New Yorkers and New Jerseyites are known for being tenacious and unstoppable. So when the news broke about impending Hurricane Sandy, it was still business as usual for many store owners and their clients. Having dealt with a city shutdown that amounted to a whole lot of nothing with Hurricane Irene the previous year, most New Yorkers, and those in surrounding areas, assumed that Hurricane Sandy would be more of the same. Unfortunately, they were wrong. Hurricane Sandy hit with a vengeance, causing extensive damage and hardship for businesses and residents alike, including those working in the beauty industry. From beauty supplies to online entities, no one escaped the fallout of this hard-hitting disaster. Many businesses were closed for days or even weeks, and online retailers had to deal with shipping slowdowns and limited Internet service.
