60 April 2014 | beautystorebusiness.com improvements to systems. These are all baby steps on the way to accomplishing our long-range goals. What do you hope for Beauty Bus Foundation's future? As the newest member of the family, I'm very excited about the future of Beauty Bus Foundation and grateful to be one of the lucky ones who truly loves the work that I do. I believe Beauty Bus Founda- tion is like a vitamin shot for the soul. There is something so powerful about human touch. When one reaches out to another to help with a beauty service, whether it be with a mani/pedi, haircut or facial, people connect, and just for those few hours, our clients escape from the everyday hardships of doctor's visits, hospitals, treatments and insur- ance paperwork. I hope for the dollars, professionals, volunteers and products to serve anyone who needs us. ■ Liz Barrett is an Oxford, MS-based freelance writer and editor. Volunteer Opportunities Interested in helping the cause? Beauty Bus volunteers are separated into three categories and openings are always available. Beauty Professionals – licensed hairdressers, nail technicians and estheticians, as well as professional makeup artists who perform Beauty Bus treatments (volunteers and independent contractors). Beauty Buddies – Non-beauty professionals who attend visits and bring smiles and laughter. Beauty Buddies are liaisons between clients, beauty professionals and Beauty Bus Foundation. Beauty Ambassadors – All other volunteers including, but not limited to, the board of directors; standing committees; those who help in the office, at fund-raising events and at school clubs holding product drives; and non-beauty professionals sharing their talents pro bono.
