54 April 2014 | beautystorebusiness.com The new CEO, Ronda Wilkin, is on a personal mission to improve the lives of the terminally ill and their caregivers. by Liz Barrett Beauty Bus' New CEO Is On a ÒMY GRANDFATHER HAD A TERMINAL DISEASE. W e were prepared for the loss," says Ronda Wilkin, CEO of Beauty Bus Foundation. "However, six weeks before his death, my grandmother passed away from the stress of being the caregiver. Grandma never saw any of her grandchildren married or met any of her amazing 12 great-grandchildren. No one was ready for the cost of this disease to be both grandparents." As a successful nonprofit executive, corporate fund-raiser, licensed esthetician and charity volun- teer in many capacities, the job listing for CEO at Beauty Bus Foundation in Santa Monica, California, was a perfect match for Wilkin's skills and back- ground. But more than that, it hit home. "For me it's also a personal mission," says Wilkin. "Ensuring that caregivers also get respite means I'm bringing a little happiness to their lives and just maybe, saving another family from a similar situation." Beauty Store Business recently spoke with Wilkin from the Beauty Bus Foundation office in Santa Monica, California, about her new role, the Beauty Bus mission and the upcoming Beauty Drive 2014 event scheduled for April 27.
