News NOT YOUR MOTHER'S BRAND LAUNCHES STYLING TOOLS Not Your Mother's haircare brand has entered into a licensing agreement with Professional Beauty Supply for a new line of Not Your Mother's hairstyling tools. The collection is designed to tie in with the brand's innovative and fun approach to hair care, offering consumers high-quality styling tools at accessible price points. "Giving our customers the creative edge these tools offer seemed like a natural step for the brand," says Bethany Pagliarulo, Not Your Mother's owner. "We are very excited, and we think our current fans will love these versatile tools." Under DeMert Brands, the 21-SKU Not Your Mother's brand is sold at more than 15,000 U.S. retail locations as well as internationally, including Australia, Kuwait, New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. The collection of styling tools will be cross-promoted with its haircare products. PBS introduced the line to retailers at the International Home + Housewares Show in March. The first items have an estimated in-store launch of August. 96 July 2013 | beautystorebusiness.com OLIVIA GARDEN DEBUTS FREE HAIRBRUSH APP Professional-beauty tools manufacturer Olivia Garden has debuted its free Hair Brush Guide App, which allows users to find the brush that matches their hair's length, type, texture and/or desired hairstyle. The Olivia Garden Hair Brush Guide App—marketed as a first of its kind—is available in HD on iPhones, iPads and Androids. Once users download the app, they're prompted for their hair type, whether straight, wavy or curly. Using curly hair as an example, the next prompt inquires about the user's hair thickness, such as thick/coarse, regular or fine. Next, it prompts for hair length, either short, medium or long. The user is then prompted to enter the desired hairstyle: straight, volume/soft curls, updo, detangling or touch-up. The final prompt supplies the suggested Olivia Garden brush based on the collected input. "We are excited to launch our new Hair Brush Guide App," says Anne Maza, vice president of sales and marketing for Olivia Garden. "This revolutionary app makes it easy for consumers to identify the brush that is ideal for their specific hair type and desired hairstyle. It takes the guesswork out of picking the No. 1 must-have tool in your beauty arsenal." ■
