DermStore Beauty Group
has grown to the tune
of about 800 brands and
26,000-plus SKUs.
DAN OBEGI NEVER PICTURED HIMSELF
entrenched in the beauty world. But three years
ago, while seeking investors for a nutritional
supplement start-up company, he walked out of
a meeting with a new job—that of president and
CEO of DermStore Beauty Group.
Beauty ecommerce continues to grow as showcased in studies such as "Beauty and the E-Commerce
Beast" conducted in 2012 by A.T. Kearney, which
calculated online sales of beauty products at $3
billion and categorized online buyers into three
categories: information seekers, online enthusiasts
and creatures of habit. In addition, the study noted
that the most important features of shopping online
are product availability, free shipping and price.
DermStore focuses on two out of three of these
features, helping to make it a powerhouse in the
online beauty realm.
Today, Obegi sits down with Beauty Store Business
to talk about the growth of the brand since he
joined the team, how DermStore connects with
its customers and the company's mission to fight
product diversion.
