ARTISTIC BEAUTY OFFERINGS by Regina Molaro EXHIBITORS, BUYERS, JOURNALISTS, BLOGGERS AND FRAGRANCE AND beauty aficionados gathered for the fourth edition of Elements Showcase, which was held last August at New York Citys posh Skylight West event space. Boasting a sleek, contemporary interior, the newly renovated space was an ideal locationjust a short distance from Midtown, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and more. Elements was founded in January 2011 by Frederick Bouchardy, Jeff Lawson and Ulrich Lang, and has been dubbed the Art Basel of the fragrance world. With the ambiance of an upscale art fair, the artistic, innovative show presents top-notch brands across all apothecary categories, including perfume, bath & body, skin care, color, nails, hair, mens grooming and home fragrances. The curated fragrance-and-design trade show produces multifaceted industry events and serves as a meeting ground for industry leaders, buyers and brandsboth emerging and established. Working with a talented roster of collaborators, the Elements team created a program of educational content, as well as art installations and beyond. Elements also hosted forums in partnership with The Fragrance Foundation, Perfumer & Flavorist magazine and Robertets natural perfume workshops, and an interactive scent installation with Takasago. 28 January 2013 | beautystorebusiness.com The recent show generated record sales and orders written, and drew approximately 3,000 visitors who came to connect with 115 exhibiting brands nearly three times the 40 vendors that exhibited at the first show, which was held just 19 months before. There was certainly an abundance of fragrance at the showfrom wearable perfumes to home fragrances such as Lisa Carrier Designs decadent candles. Also part of the mix was skin care, which included Anthony Logistics for men and Nuxes anti-wrinkle skincare line. This edition also provided a larger number of both international and regional buyers and retailers, which resulted in record sales and a number of orders written during the August 2012 event, says co-founder Lawson. Buyers came from esteemed retail destinations, including Henri Bendel, Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-a-Porter, Anthropologie, W Hotels and Rosewood Hotels, among others. The fifth edition of Elements Showcase will be held on Jan. 28 and 29, 2013, at the same venue in New York City. For more information, call 212.268.6148 or visit elements-showcase.com.
