Deborah Carver Publisher deborah.carver@creativeage.com 12 August 2016 | beautystorebusiness.com Editor's Note "BSB will continue to produce award-winning editorial, up-to-date business information and industry news." New Beginnings OVER THE L AST T WO-AND-A-HALF DECADES, BEAUTY Store Business has established itself as the premiere source of information for beauty industry professionals and beauty store owners. Much of the magazine's success is due to the efforts of executive editor Marc Birenbaum, who, for more than 10 years, worked diligently to create high-quality editorial for our audience— and I'm certain that trend will continue with the introduction of our newest executive editor J. Joshua Placa. Joshua is a seasoned writer and editor with extensive experience in print and online journalism. He has served as the editor-in-chief of three national magazines and has been published in a broad variety of consumer and trade publications of record, as well as major dailies. Creative, analytic and proficient at newsgathering and creating innovative features, Joshua prides himself on maintaining accuracy, objectivity and fairness in his work. While Marc is moving on, I am grateful for his service and dedica- tion to the magazine over the years. I'm also confident that under Joshua's leadership, BSB will continue to produce award-winning editorial, up-to-date business information, industry news, trends, product reviews and expert advice on marketing techniques, merchandising and store operations. As the new executive editor, Joshua will work closely with associate publisher Jerry Lovell as well as our innovative managing editor Breanna Armstrong on all upcoming editorial projects. While change can sometimes be hard, I am positive that these new beginnings will only take Beauty Store Business to new heights. If you haven't already met him, Joshua will be at Cosmoprof North America. Please introduce yourself, let him know what you love about the magazine and what you'd like to see covered in the future. And, of course, contact him any time at jplaca@creativeage.com. ■
