56 January 2016 | beautystorebusiness.com Photography by Daryna Barykina, hair color and cut by Erica Keelen WHETHER YOUR CUSTOMERS' HAIR IS FRIZZY, CURLY OR ULTRA THIN, they can get the perfect silky-straight look as long as you find products to fit their needs. "Almost anyone can achieve straight hair if they use the right tools and products for their hair type. If you ask your stylist, they know your hair and can suggest just the right products," says Lisa Marie Garcia, vice president of shows and education for Farouk Systems. Getting this hot look can be achieved in just a few simple steps. "There are several key things to remember to achieve that super-sleek hair many women yearn for," Garcia says. "First, you must start by proper sectioning and keeping control. This will ensure that each section was straightened [without] showing any spots that you could have missed. Before straightening, it is important to prepare the hair with a product that is geared toward smoothing … When using a flat iron, make sure that the temperature is for your hair type. This will avoid any heat damage." Garcia also recommends avoiding products with a high-alcohol content or other ingredients that may dry out hair. "You don't want anything that will coat the hair and prevent moisture from entering the hair shaft," she says, suggesting products like CHI Straight Guard and flat irons with ceramic or tourmaline plates. From start to fi nish, here's how your customers can get sleek, shiny and frizz-free straight hair using the hottest products—and one insider's know-how. by Karen Wilhelmsen SET IT STRAIGHT
