48 January 2016 | beautystorebusiness.com BEAUTY STORE BUSINESS: What are your favorite trends in fashion that we'll be seeing in 2016? KADAR: I like that they're using white this season, because normally white is not worn after Labor Day. I wear white all year long, so I love that we're just keeping the white going. I feel like white is the new black, and it really stands out in a crowd. I love how that color just bounces off people's skin. VILLARREAL: As far as fashion trends in 2016, everything's going to be Bohemian: things across the forehead, big metal chains—that's what the trend will be. WEISS-FISCHMANN: My favorite [upcoming] fashion trends are the beau- tiful embellishments for spring, and I love the diversity in the clothes. What are your favorite colors for the upcoming season(s)? Kadar: I like pops of color. A lot of people have a hard time wearing red. So as an alternative, I like different shades of pink. Pinks are really great for any skin tone. They're a lot easier for people to wear, and not as dramatic as red, but still [give] the same result. Certain people are really drawn to that oxblood color for the season. I think it's hard to wear for a lot of people unless you're doing it really light; but that color is naturally going to be popular for the season. I still really love the peaches and the corals leading into winter as well. I know they're traditionally considered spring and summer colors, but I think it's a really pretty, natural look for a lot of people. Villarreal: Iridescent colors are going to be big this year. Weiss-Fischmann : I am very excited about new shades for spring such as peach, green, purple—all in new tones that we have not seen before. What trends do you think we'll be seeing soon in the beauty industry? Kadar: I think we have a resurgence of bringing natural beauty back—that effortless look. And we're going to tie that into some product launches that we have. I think the winged eyeliner is still going to be big, but less smoky eyes and more accentuating your eyes with different colors. Villarreal: Definitely crimped braids with hair jewelry/beaded confetti incor- porated into it. Also, high ponies with head chains, graphic pigtails, messy updos adorned with beaded headscarves and embroidered bobby pins to dress up the hair. Weiss-Fischmann: Cream shades are very trendy, along with nail art. Experimenting with negative space as well as embellishments will add a new dimension to nails. How have these trends influenced your new products debuting in 2016? Kadar: We have a new palette called the Dream Palette. This palette has a pressed highlighter, contour and all of the shadows you would need. So it's you're go-to, one-stop-shop palette, essentially. So, with the colors of this palette, you can create that [natural] look. Villarreal: We have been developing a lot of new products and hair jewels that are focused on finishing the hairstyle and creating the perfect complement. Weiss-Fischmann: OPI is always at the forefront of innovation both with ingredients and package design. What trends do you think will emerge as far as hairstyles? Kadar: Braids are still the rage—it's a nice, easy way to accentuate your look. I think the bun is not going anywhere either—that and loose, beachy curls are so easy to do. It's all about transitional hair: On your first day, you take a lot of time to curl your hair. The next day, you do loose beach waves and fluff it a little bit. The day after that, you braid it; and the following day, it's in a bun.
