Editor's Note Get Ready for Las Vegas! Marc Birenbaum Executive Editor mbirenbaum@creativeage.com The U.S. Multicultural/ Ethnic Market: AfricanAmerican Perspectives conference— a first for the show—is July 15. 4 July 2013 | beautystorebusiness.com COSMOPROF NORTH AMERICA 2013 and the 2013 PBA Beauty Week will take place July 13-16 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Here's my top 10 list of things in preferred order to do there. 1. Join Beauty Store Business senior editor Manyesha Batist for The U.S. Multicultural/ Ethnic Market: African-American Perspectives conference—a first for the show— July 15 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. After an opening overview presentation by Mintel vice president of global insight Hannah Roberts, beauty-industry leaders Lafayette Jones, Sam Ennon and Geri Duncan Jones will discuss the rich history of this market segment, where the lucrative sector is now and the future they each see for it. 2. Stop by the SPOTLIGHTS area to see the 20 lines that are great fits for highend beauty retailers and the 18 brands in the Discover Beauty area that could be the "next big things." (See page 50.) 3. Check out the 27 companies in the Emerging Beauty areas in Pavilions A and D that have never before exhibited at a CPNA. (See page 50 again.) 4. Hear PBA Business Forum and breakfast keynote speaker Arianna Huffington, president and editor in chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, speak July 14. Her topic is From Politics to the Boardroom: Fearless Leadership. 5. I can't wait for the reception and dinner July 13 for Reuben Carranza, CEO of Wella, the Salon Professional Division of P&G;, North America, who is this year's City of Hope Spirit of Life Award honoree. And his Hope Is In Style campaign for diabetes awareness and research won't end there! 6. Get over to the new BEAUTIQUE sample bar on the show floor, which is open during the entire show. Attendees can handpick seven from 20 featured exhibiting brands for $10, and all proceeds collected will benefit the City of Hope. 7. Consider going to the Zappos Corporate Culture Tour the morning on July 16. After the tour, Folica.com's Noelle Raezer will host a 15-minute Q&A; session about the corporate culture at that online beauty retailer. 8. Attend the PBA Distributor Forum Session from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. July 16. 9. Head to the 2013 NAHA Awards ceremony July 14. Actor, author, entertainment journalist and producer Mario Lopez will host it—and receive the 2013 PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award. 10. Learn about the success of the new TV Shopping Open-See the afternoon of July 15, where beauty brands can present to QVC and The Shopping Channel. I hope you accomplish all that you wish to do at CPNA 2013. For your planning, we've provided an exhibitors list on page 54.
