ELEMENTS SHOWCASE No. 5 Upscale brands���from fragrances to cosmetics, skin care and hair care���were presented at the winter edition of this niche beauty event. New York City was once again the scene of the winter edition of Elements Showcase, which was held Jan. 28-29 at Skylight West���a sleek, industrial space located on the West Side of Manhattan. Luring a host of buyers, industry leaders and brands���both emerging and established���the fifth edition of the event drew approximately 3,000 attendees and 120 niche beauty exhibitors. It boasted an array of stellar products from fine fragrances���many of which hailed from overseas destinations���to luxurious scented candles, cosmetics, skin care and hair care. This winter���s showcase presented an expanded range of categories, including home ambiance, skin care, hair care and color cosmetics, while maintaining the event���s focus on exceptional product design and innovation���a theme that was punctuated by artwork also showcased there. The educational panels included one by Robertet���a Grasse-based fragrance house���that covered a perfume ingredient it produces called ���ylang.��� Elements partner Perfume & Flavorist magazine also led a discussion exploring how niche and independent brands are expanding into mainstream opportunities. The event also featured POP Market, a new technology that allowed buyers to work with clients via iPads, presenting their offerings, filling orders, etc. And, as has become expected, attendees enjoyed the second annual Indie Award presentation, which Elements Showcase offers in partnership with The Fragrance Foundation. An impressive array of top-notch global buyers were present, including C.O. Bigelow, Shen Beauty and Birchbox.
