10 June 2019 | beautystorebusiness.com Beauty Ingestibles Not surprisingly, Expo West features an enormous selection of nutritional supplements. Nearly every major nutritional supplement brand now offers ingestibles created to support beauty effects, whether that be lustrous hair, glowing skin or strong nails. That said, a fewer number of brands are specifically marketed to the beauty space. While beauty ingestibles have the same quality ingredients as regular nutritional supplements you'd find in a health retailer, the packaging is prettier and more appealing to the beauty consumer. Upon entering the show, the standout beauty supplement brand was obvious: Vital Proteins. With a swarm of enthusiastic attendees waiting to try a shot of the Collagen Water (available in compelling flavors such as lemon ginger and blackberry hibiscus), we made our way to a colorful section of Beauty Collagen offerings (also available in an array of interesting flavors such as lavender lemon and tropical hibiscus). The packaging is bright and beautiful. The products are relevant and sure to resonate with the beauty-from-within consumer. Collagen was the number-one trending ingestible ingredient we saw in beauty, followed by probiotics, detox formulas, relaxation/sleep formulas and turmeric-infused wellness supplements. A couple of emerging brands we spotted in the new products pavilion were Winged, which features a stress support gummy supplement called Relaxation that contains non-psychoactive CBD. We also liked The Republic of Tea's Daily Beauty Blueberry Lavender Tea, which is touted to have collagen-promoting, skin-protecting and hydrating benefits. E ach year during the second weekend of March, thousands descend upon Anaheim, California, for the Natural Products Expo West, also known as Expo West, held at the Anaheim Convention Center. As the beauty industry continues to move toward natural formulations across every segment–hair care, skin care, oral care, ingestibles and cosmetics, Expo West has become a hot bed of discovery for retailers seeking beauty and wellness products, often revealing trends before they make it to mainstream beauty. This year was no exception. The three-day show, held March 7-9, had more than 86,000 attendees and 3,600 exhibitors, including 600 first-time exhibitors. Here are just a few of the beauty highlights!
