Industry News 14 August 2018 | Courtesy of Gerry Udell Inc. THE MAKEUP SHOW GOES TO HOUSTON The Makeup Show is adding a new location to its lineup of cities across the country: Houston! Rather than taking place in Dallas as originally planned, the two-day trade show for beauty professionals (which includes makeup artists, retail artists, estheticians, cosmetologists, hairstylists, freelance artists and more) was moved to Houston to help the city, which was affected by Hurricane Harvey. The hurricane caused more than $125 billion in damages to Houston in August 2017, and the city is still dealing with the devastating aftermath. The Makeup Show Houston will be held on March 23-24, 2019, at the Hilton Houston Post Oak. The Makeup Show will also host other events in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago and Orlando throughout the year. "The Makeup Show chose to move from Dallas to Houston not only because of the city's culture, creativity, character and overwhelming requests from local artists, but to help the city from the still prevalent aftermath of last year's Hurricane Harvey," said Shelly Tagger, the owner of The Makeup Show. "The show is looking to do their part and contribute to the efforts in building up the city and help with the healing process. Having 60 brands featured, three full days of education, and a great environment for networking, creativity and inspiration makes it a great opportunity to help a city see there is still sunshine after the storm." The Houston show will offer pro discounts on merchandise from 60 beauty brands, networking opportunities with brand executives and more than 70 educational opportunities for attendees from some of the beauty industry's finest luminaries. There will also be keynote speakers from around the world that will provide tips for artists spanning topics like techniques, career advancement and trends. Workshops will also be available for those looking for hands-on experience to take their makeup artistry to new heights. For additional information or to purchase tickets, visit ■ GERRY UDELL INC.
