28 August 2017 | beautystorebusiness.com shvili, gettyimages.com For chiseled cheekbones and more defi ned features, these contour kits take the cake. hile contouring is a new technique to some, it's been popular among makeup artists for decades, says Milani national artist DeMille Michelle. "[But] the trend will continue to reinvent itself and evolve into easier and more natural ways of contouring—and even introduce new trends like strobing," she says. For those looking for a quick, hassle-free way to contour, Michelle recommends multipurpose tools that can be blended out with fingers, such as Milani's Contour & Highlight Duo. "Use the creamy stick to add depth and definition to the face, and place the liquid highlighter to the high points of the face, and bring forward your best features," she says. Of course, you will want to tailor your recommendations to customers based on each person's lifestyle and level of artistry. For your more advanced clientele, Michelle recom- mends suggesting cream or stick contouring products. And for the beginner makeup guru and on-the-go type of gal, she says opt for powder contour palettes. "Powder is the easiest to blend, which makes it just about foolproof!" In addition to the right makeup, Michelle says, "The right tool is key when it comes to applying any makeup to the face." She recommends the use of a blush brush or a brush with a tapered dome shape for powder products, which is multifunctional and provides precise application. It can also be used to apply a highlighter and blush, too. To increase your sales, Michelle suggests recommending that your customers also grab extra essentials for a flawless face, such as a primer (to prep the skin by filling in pores and lines while giving your skin a beautiful glow), foundation and concealer. Once done contouring, they can spritz some setting spray to top it all off. Here are the best of best in contouring products to stock in your store. —Karen Wilhelmsen
