So when selecting a blow-dryer for their beauty arsenal, it's important to pick one that will enhance their techniques and act as an extension of them. According to Jim Roberts, show and education director for Rusk and BaBylissPRO, achieving the perfect salon-quality blowout comes down to one thing: technology. Luckily, he says, many brands are continually pressing the boundaries of innovation to provide professionals with tools that are up to this challenge. "Technology is forever changing, and the results are better tools for stylists," Roberts says. Better tools for the stylist is also the secret to a happy client. "A client's wants are sometimes similar to that of a stylist … Power, heat and airflow, but they also want the dryer to be lightweight and comfortable for them to use," he says. For this reason, investing in a product with premium technology is perhaps the biggest thing for them to keep in mind when selecting a blow-dryer. One of the latest technologies pros should look into is the brushless engine, Roberts says. "This new, innovative technology trumps the previously designed blow-dryers that have wearable carbon brushes," he says. "… the newer technology offers a longer-lasting, lighter-weight, more powerful, quieter blow-dryer." At the end of the day, investing in technology is a direct investment in the trade. "I see these features being the benchmark for many companies to strive for," Roberts says. "After all, the blow-dryer is the second most important tool to a stylist besides their shears." And there you have it.
