8 July 2014 | beautystorebusiness.com ELLIS FAAS Cosmetics Thijs Faas, vice president thijs@ellisfaas.com ellisfaas.com Amsterdam-based makeup artist Ellis Faas has been referred to as "one of the most influential makeup artists of her time," according to Vogue Paris. This cosmetics star has worked with a host of elite fashion designers, as well as top-notch photographers, stylists, hairdressers and models. Her compelling work has been published on the glossy covers of prestigious fashion magazines such as Vogue (including Paris, Italia, Nippon, Russia) and Numéro. Faas has also had stints at beauty powerhouses, including Clinique, Lancôme, and MAC Cosmetics, as well as L'Oréal, which invited her to create a makeup collection to coordinate with its skincare brand Biotherm. When the contract with L'Oréal terminated in 2007, this visionary decided to create her own brand. Hot Lips is the latest revolutionary texture for lips. Since it's packed with pigment, pretty pouts only need a dab to add a dash of vibrant color. The long-wearing formula is paraben-free, nonsticky and won't dry out the lips. All of the lip products in the collection are suitable for every skin tone, age and style, and are not tested on animals. The line includes nine compelling shades, including Fluo Pink L404, Rose Violet L406 and Pink Nude L409. Founder Ray Simons, a bald man himself, explains that although bald men often have tough, masculine appear- ances, they have super-thin, hairless scalps. "When exposed to various weather conditions while protection of hair growth or sebum is lacking, the skin on our bald heads is of a poor condition," he says. With a mission to create skin care without any chemicals or synthetic ingredients, Rayman's multipurpose product includes a host of wonder ingredients from the world of botany, such as plant extracts and essential oils. Derived from nature, the ingredient list includes rosehip, apricot kernel, jojoba, argan, sandalwood, lavender, tea tree, calendula and tea tree oil. Rayman's light, nongreasy facial oil is quickly absorbed by the skin and works to combat cracking skin. Its formula multitasks as skin care, skull protection and a shaving oil. Ray Simons Amsterdam products are 100% natural and organic—it's "honest skin care with outstanding results." SRP: $75 Kat Burki Brenda Hong, senior regional manager of sales and training 203.451.4049 bhong@katburki.com katburki.com Fragrance buffs can fully indulge their senses in Kat Burki's chic, ultra-sophisticated perfumes and candles. To create a true sensory experience, enchanting fragrance blends are decked out in luxurious packaging that is high on style. Elegant, colorful patterns adorn the boxes that house the products. Burki's ability to capture a fragrance's essence was evident from her very first scent, Tuberose. While many Tuberose fragrances have taken a deeper approach, her version introduced a fresh, clean sensibility and was truly reminiscent of the pure, white flower that Burki was enamored with. With the success of Tuberose, Burki became renowned for her ability to modernize classic fragrances. Silk Noir is the newest scent to debut in the collection. Bergamot zest, crushed violet petals and vetiver mingle artistically with agarwood, woody, sandalwood and guaiac wood. SRP: $120 The Vagabond Prince 973.873.8766 sales@vagabondprince.com vagabondprince.com The Enchanted Forest fragrance is inspired by the endless sea of Russian forests and fairy tales as well as the sensual ancient Slavic celebration "Kupala," which relates to the summer solstice when nights are the shortest. French perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour created this fine nature-derived scent, which is based on the enticing aroma of black currant. Lots of tantalizing notes are artistically blended together to create Enchanted Forest—among them, pink pepper, sweet orange, flower cassis, blackcurrant leaf, hawthorn and the essences of rum and wine, as well as rosemary, Russian coriander seed, honeysuckle, rose, amber, oakmoss, fir balsam absolute, cedar notes, vanilla and musk. The enchanting fragrance is housed in a round, glossy flacon made of black opaque glass, which was designed to resemble the blackcurrant berry. A gold pattern embellishes the bottle and is created in the Russian hohloma style. Designed exclusively for the fragrance, the design motif was initially painted by hand and then printed on the bottle in a metallic gold hue. A lavishly decorated box splashed in a palette of gold, blue and white polishes off the look.
