BOUTIQUE-GLOSSYBOX COLLABORATION CPNA has unveiled a partnership with global subscriber beauty box company GLOSSYBOX that has a connection to the 2014 City of Hope campaign: The Boutique-GLOSSYBOX limited-edition box will debut there and will go on sale later to consumers online. This program follows recent successful collaborations that GLOSSYBOX has launched with others, including NET-A-PORTER, Bergdorf Goodman and La Prairie. Show attendees will be able to handpick seven deluxe samples from 20 featured exhibiting brands for a donation. All proceeds collected at CPNA will benefit the City of Hope. In August the box will be available for sale exclusively on GLOSSYBOX.com. It will feature seven products. GLOSSYBOX is a subscription-based service from Beauty Trend, which specializes in the dispatch of luxury beauty boxes worldwide. Founded in 2011 by global CEO Charles von Abercron, it's headquartered in Berlin, Germany, and has shipped more than 5 million boxes. The company's North American operation is headed by U.S. president and manag- ing director Elian Pres-Gurwits. Globally, GLOSSYBOX works with more than 400 prestigious brands and reaches more than 200,000 subscribers a month. MARK CUBAN TO SPEAK The keynote speaker at the PBA's annual Business Forum and buffet breakfast July 13 is Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks NBA team who's also on the TV show "Shark Tank." In addition, Cuban is chairman and CEO of AXS TV and an investor in an ever- growing portfolio of businesses, including three beauty brands showcased on the show floor: Simple Sugars, KissTixx and Hot Tot. RESPONSIVE WEBSITE DEBUTS Salon Skins, the offi cial Barbicide jar wrap for large- and medium-size Barbicide jars, recently debuted a responsive-design website: salonskins.com. Such a website automatically changes to fi t the device a user is reading it on. Typically, there have been four general screen sizes that responsive design has been aimed at: the wide-screen desktop monitor, the smaller desktop (or laptop), the tablet and the mobile phone. "With nearly 40% of Internet time now on mobile devices, we have created salonskins.com to be able to provide the best user experience possible without limiting the user to a specifi c device," says Denny Smolinski, developer. A LOOK BACK & AHEAD FOR IBS NEW YORK, ABS Two major salon-industry cash-and-carry trade show were held last March: IBS New York at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City and America's Beauty Show at McCormick Place in Chicago. IBS New York officials reported that its show "drew almost 63,000 passionate and energetic beauty pros" and "almost 500 exhibiting companies." "Re-sign for our 2015 show was our strongest yet for both IBS and the International Esthetics, Cosmetics & Spa Conference," says Liza Wylie, vice president, events, for the Questex Media Beauty and Spa Group. IBS Las Vegas was held June 21-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas. IBS New York 2015 will take place March 8-10 at the Javits in New York City. ABS officials reported "more than 55,000 [beauty] professionals" and its Exhibit Hall "featured 450-plus manufacturers and distributors." Next year's ABS show dates are March 21-23 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
