38 May 2014 | beautystorebusiness.com slow times. But when the busy season passes, it is imperative that you carve out more family time if you expect to find a good rhythm. Another key to establishing reasonable expectation is to commit to having dinner at home with your family at least a couple of nights per week. Many studies show that time around the table is key to building family togetherness. One such study was done by The NPD Group (npd. com), headquartered in Port Washing- ton, New York. ÒWe found through our research that consumers derive the most enjoyment from preparing meals at home for their families,Ó says Dori Hickey, the companyÕs director of product manage- ment. In some cases, failure to delegate may be due to the absence of a competent employee to whom you can delegate tasks to. If this is the case, then you must make the tough call and replace that employee with someone who is capable of covering for you when you are at home. However, more often than not, a Òbuck stops hereÓ atmosphere is caused by an ownerÕs inability to relinquish some control. If this describes you, then you must change your mind-set and be willing to empower your employees to effectively delegate tasks. Your work/ life rhythm depends on it. The next step is to provide training for your employees. You will need to take the time to show them what you know and then observe them in action. This will take some time on your part and your employees will Continued from page 34 • CLEANS: ONE Cleanser gently removes eye and face makeup, dirt and perspiration without stripping moisture from skin. • PROTECTS: ONE Cleanser creates a moisture shield barrier against dehydration • HYDRATES: ONE Cleanser puts moisture into skin • MULTI-TASKS: ONE Cleanser is for the whole family.
