Many niche and indie fragrance and beauty offerings were uncovered at the last Elements Showcase in New York City. BEAUTY BUFFS AND GLAMOUR GIRLS WORLDWIDE have a host of innovative new niche products to experiment with. Lots of alluring fragrances and fun, colorful cosmetics collections debuted at the seventh installation of Elements Showcase, which was held last August at Skylight West in New York City. More than 75 exhibitors and 3,500 guests were lured to this ultimate beauty destination to scout out the latest offerings of chic beauty and fragrance products. "We changed the story a little," says Frederick Bouchardy, who co-founded Elements Showcase in 2011 with Jeff Lawson, owner of Jeff Lawson Associates, and Ulrich Lang, owner of Ulrich Lang Fragrances. "This year was less about education and more about interacting 18 January 2014 | beautystorebusiness.com [and] actually experiencing things." Among the engaging experiences on-site were airbrush makeup applications by TEMPTU and mini facials from Själ Skincare, as well as top-notch nail services from nail companies. The event offered a host of new categories, including chic fashion accessories, delectable chocolates and teas, as well as new beauty services. Becoming more global each year, Elements Showcase has made its mark overseas. In May 2013, the event was held in Dubai—its first international exhibit to date— where it was visited by a crowd of approximately 20,000. In 2014, Elements Showcase will debut in London and Tokyo in addition to its Dubai and New York City locations. "From a business perspective, we are the first show of our kind that's growing internationally and doing it very quickly—all a response to the market," adds Bouchardy. "In a way, we've set the tone as far as niche beauty and fragrance are concerned, and that is always the guiding light for what we are trying to do. We plan to continue to expand into other things to make it make sense, to make the show more useful for retailers." The upcoming edition of Elements Showcase New York is scheduled for Feb. 4-6, 2014.
