leader who has demonstrated outstanding business and altruistic
achievement. This year the award is being presented to Reuben Carranza,
CEO of Wella, the Salon Professional Division of P&G;, North America,
on Saturday, July 13, during a gala reception and dinner just
before Cosmoprof North America 2013 in Las Vegas.
As is true of many people, Carranza has witnessed
diabetes firsthand, watching as his mother and aunt—
both hairdressers—worked with the disease. Now, with
the help of his yearlong Hope Is In Style campaign, he's
working to bring some much-needed attention to diabetes.
Beauty Store Business caught up with Carranza
while he was in Las Vegas making arrangements for
the July 13 event. Here he shares how he feels diabetes
directly impacts the salon industry; why he decided
to create a yearlong campaign; and how beauty
stores can get involved.
